I don't know if you have been watching on TLC's Extreme Couponers but I have been watching the show on a regular basis. My wife and I have always been looking at ways of cutting coast and looking at deals but I have been placed in charged of the grocery shopping trips. I would create list and we would do ok with savings of about $30 and that was mostly on store sales and shopper loyalty cards.
Lately, I've really stepped up on savings with needing to put money back with another child on the way. My last trip I actually saved over $80. But I was a complete mess with my coupons, I had some separated with envelopes and I have a coupon holder but I was scrambling to find what I was looking for so what is normal hour trip was turning into a breaking point of 2 hrs (with a toddler, a ten year old and pregeant wife they were ready to go) and to make things worse is that I didn't get everything on my list.
I needed to make something better and after watching the TLC show I have seen what they were using. I had some free gift cards I got from Target and picked a combo set of binder with baseball card sheets for free with the gift cards. I also picked up some tab dividers as well for free with the gift cards as well.
After I got home my wife and son helped place the coupons into slots so that I can see all that I got (my wife encourages my thriftiness and my oldest son gladly accepted some of the card pages for his Pokemon card collection). My binder is still a work in progress and as soon as it is set I will post pics of the steps I took to build it.
A Closing note, my overall goal is to save money, I am not looking to be like the people on TV and have huge stock piles of products, it's awesome that they are able to do that but I don't have the room or that need. As I go on with the blog I will explain more ways that I will work on saving money.
